New York Fishing – Fishing Guide for Beginners

By Fisherman

New York has some many fishing opportunities to offer that most of you guys can’t even imagine. I remember my last year fishing trips to NY and plenty of beautiful memories come into my head. Besides the fact that there are hundreds and thousands of lakes and rivers of various kinds that you can fish in, there is also this amazing and unique chance to catch fish in the salt waters of the Atlantic Ocean. In most of the freshwater basins across this state you will be able to find mostly salmon and steelhead. However, there are plenty of other fishes to.

So it doesn’t really matter if you are a beginner or even a professional, I’m sure that you will be pleased with all the options, solutions and opportunities to accomplish your fishing in endeavors in this state of America. My good friend Joe says that for maximum satisfaction one needs to start with salmon fishing in the might Ontario Lake. Have you ever been there? Do you know what I am talking about? I guess that you guys are going to lose a lot if you ignore this amazing freshwater basin when trying to catch that big salmon somewhere in New York!

I promise that I am going to have an article written especially about fly fishing in the Salmon River. Nevertheless, till then all you need to know is that next time you enter the fishing store you should get the necessary lure, especially for this type of activity. I guess that many people overlook all these opportunities, even when they come to New York and even if they are fishing enthusiasts. Fishing in New York almost everything for everyone and if you are really serious about spending a few days besides the fresh or salt waters you really have where to choose from.

Besides the freshwater fishing you also have the Atlantic Ocean which is full of sharks. Even I personally don’t like charter shark fishing so much I know a lot of people who do have this type of hobby. Later on I might include some additional information and maybe even write a post dedicated to chartering yachts in the deep blue sea just for keeping an eye on the sharks and hunting for them. This type of fishing is extremely specific and requires special knowledge and experience. Not everyone can do it; it is pretty cruel and requires a lot of physical strength as well.

For those who want to experience something new except land type of fishing, New York has something really special to offer. Have you ever had the chance to hire those amazing charter boats on various lakes or maybe even in the sea? If you like freshwater fishing more, you might want to consider Lake Ontario first of all. There are some other options as well. Plenty of charter boats exist on Lake Erie and Champlain as well. Lake trout, walleye, steelhead and salmon, plus many other interesting and exotic fish are waiting for you to play the lure game.

There are some tricky aspects regarding fishing activities in New York. The state that we are talking about here is so large and there are so many bodies of water on its territory that sometimes it is extremely difficult to keep in touch with all the rules and laws of what to fish and what not to fish. So, in order to keep out of trouble I suggest keeping yourself informed regarding all the water regulations that are imposed by the local authorities. Even if this sounds like a good joke, you don’t want to pay thousands of dollars to the Environmental Protection Department.

Getting a license is also tricky. However, if you are one of the millions residents of this state you won’t have a problem getting one and it is probably going to cost you something from $40 to $100 USD. It varies because there are different options available. Carefully think what kind of waters you need that license for and they will immediately tell you how much should you pay. When a person who doesn’t live in NY wants a license, he is going to be charged at least $70 – $80 USD. I’ll definitely write a post about getting a fishing license in New York.

As most of you are looking for a fishing guide for beginners, I believe that there is plenty of stuff that you guys need to take into considering when it comes to special New York fishing opportunities. No matter what kind of fish you are looking for, you’ll easily be able to find it and that is absolutely guaranteed. New York is an amazing state and it has almost everything that you ever wanted when it comes to salmon, trout, steelhead or any other type of fish! It’s time to accept when they call NY the center of the world and maybe consider it the one of the fishing world too! What do you think? I think that would be a little bit exaggerated!
