New York Fishing – NY Shark Fishing Charters

by Fisherman

New York is a famous location among charter shark fishing enthusiasts all over the world. The coastlines of this state are well known for the large activity of sharks and there are plenty of people who find this kind of activity really special. As far as I remember, there are almost three varieties of sharks living in these waters. Even if I don’t really like this kind of hobby, there are people who enjoy shark fishing from a charter in New York a lot. Each day that they are doing it becomes a memorable day. They like collecting all kind of stories during their shark trips.

As there are many people searching for these kind of activities I thought that writing a post about this on my New York fishing blog might be a good idea. So what do you think? Are you one of those enthusiasts who enjoy activities of this kind? If you are, than leaving a comment above this article is going to be something really nice from you. I suppose that as many different opinions and facts are shared about how to catch sharks in New York, the better for everyone, especially for those that are doing it for the first time. If something is not clear, please ask.

You are definitely going to need a fishing license for catching such fish in the saltwater of New York. Getting a fishing license is not that hard as long as you know where to get it and what particular documents are necessary. I’ve written a post about obtaining a license for fishing in New York, so if you are really interested to have the state authorities allow you hunt sharks directly in the ocean either from your private or from a rented yacht or charter you are welcome. As far as I know, sharks are also predators and spread pretty fast. But there should be a law.

It is important to find exactly the charter boat that you need for this kind of activity. Always consult the sum of monies that you have in your pockets. You don’t want to sign the contract for a New York charter shark fishing that you cannot afford. Rent a simple one if you don’t have the necessary finances to go for a nice yacht where you could also rest besides just do your fishing activities. There are plenty of ways to enjoy your leisure time and even if some people don’t understand this, there are plenty of us who consider shark fishing extremely exciting and fun.

Do not rent any charter that you are being offered. Use the internet to make your research. Ask friends that have been doing this for a longer time. Before deciding on a special charter you need to make sure that it is crewed or not. If it is, having a serious discussion with the captain of the vessel is very important, as you want to know who you will be dealing with. You need to ask his opinion regarding the best day for catching a shark in the waters that you think of. Most fishermen that I managed to talk to choose to do it during the day, for approximately 12 hours.

Remember that if you don’t like the captain that you will be working with on that charter you better stay away from it. You need to reserve that charter fishing trip for that shark hunt in time and make sure that you like the crew that you are offered. You don’t want to make a deposit and only after that discover that the captain has totally different fishing views when it comes to catching sharks in those waters. You need to be able to find common language with the captain of the charter because otherwise you will not enjoy your fishing trip.

The next important tip that I thought about sharing with you guys directly reflects being a little bit more organized and arriving in the dock at the launch point in time. If you don’t the charter might leave without you and yes you are going to lose the deposit. If the final shark fishing destination is pretty far away, recommended one day before the actual fishing trip is necessary. You want to make sure that you have enough time in order to prepare all your stuff and to get ready for this amazing experience that not everyone has the opportunity to take advantage of.

New York shark fishing charters are not that hard to find, especially when you know how to conduct your research. Use the internet, ask friends that have done it before. There is one smaller tip that I want to suggest you. Always check the weather conditions before going on such a trip. Even if this is the direct responsibility of your charter captain, you still want to make sure that you verify everything. Being in the middle of the ocean during a rainstorm is not the best thing that can happen to you. Such moments are unforgettable, but the weather has to be nice.
